Frank Evans

Senior Scientist

As the senior scientist for Neural ID, Frank applies his expertise in machine vision and image processing, as well as feature extract techniques for CURE^® vector generation. He also consults on automation hardware and software issues.

Now semi-retired after 40 years of engineering, Frank’s expansive professional career has involved working in a number of diverse fields. This includes developing instrumentation for human vision, conducting oceanographic research and designing robots and machine vision systems. Frank’s most recent position was as the director of research and development for vision at ESI, one of the world’s leading suppliers of photonic systems for microengineering production applications.

Frank holds several patents with more pending and is the principal author of a national standard. He is also an amateur mycologist, specializing in hypogenous fungi (truffles). In fact, Fevansia is a new genus named after Frank and he is a co-author of Field Guide to North American Truffles, published by Ten Speed Press. Frank holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of California at Berkeley.
